Martha: Heart Disease

Martha is a 75-year-old patient whose serious health issues went untreated because she didn’t have health insurance. In 2015, she became a patient at BVMI, and was diagnosed with aortic stenosis and heart failure, serious cardiac issues that needed immediate attention. According to her doctor, without immediate surgical intervention, Martha had less than a year to live.  BVMI arranged for open heart surgery to replace her aortic and mitral heart valves. Fortunately, the surgery was successful and today, Martha is in much better health. BVMI’s skilled clinical team continues to care for her, monitoring her cardiac and pulmonary conditions and treating her diabetes and high blood pressure. Martha is very thankful for the lifesaving care she receives at BVMI.

Help Us Create a Haven For Hope and Healing ...

To meet the increasing need for mental health services at BVMI, we need your help with a special, time-sensitive project—to transform an existing administrative office in our Hackensack clinic into a warm and inviting therapy room. To do so, we need to raise $10,000 to completely transform the space into a haven for hope and healing…one with comfortable furnishings, soft lighting, and a desk for Sandra. And tissues—plenty of tissues.
