Paying It Forward

From the moment she was greeted by the friendly faces at BVMI, Christine knew she was witnessing something incredible. After her mother told her about the amazing doctors, she was convinced that this was the best place to go for a routine check up since her employer wasn’t offering medical benefits. She returned home after her appointment and thought to herself, “I wonder if I could volunteer there.”

And so the research began! She went to the website and saw that the office was looking for volunteers to help with their social media strategy. Ding ding ding! The light bulb lit up and she thought, “I can do that!” Since Christine was working as a copywriter and community manager at a digital marketing startup, she thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to give back and share her skills with a like-minded community.

“I love BVMI’s mission—to help the many who are left without health insurance, to make sure that those in need are not left in the dark.” She wanted to be part of an impactful, volunteer-driven vision and she finally found that place. Now is she not only a patient but also a volunteer who is ready and eager to spread the word about how the BVMI team are pioneers in bringing accessible healthcare to her community!

Before attending college, Christine was a volunteer at Englewood Hospital. She studied English literature and journalism at Montclair State University and graduated in 2015. Music, literature, and helping others are her passions. Since then she has contributed to multiple music publications in NYC. Currently, she is working as a customer experience specialist at an eco-friendly and sustainable company.
