When you’re young and just starting out, healthcare can be hard to come by. BVMI is here to help, providing primary healthcare to almost 150 patients under the age of 30.
BVMI is also providing healthcare for millennial families who are just starting out. Luciana, a 23-year-old office clerk, just returned to BVMI after giving birth to her little girl, Mariana. During her pregnancy, Luciana was covered by New Jersey Family Care. Now that she’s a mom, she’s back at BVMI. “I’ve missed coming here,” says Luciana. “This is the only place I’ve ever come where they actually pay attention to me.”
Although three-month-old Mariana is a delight, being a new mom can be stressful, says Luciana. “But I don’t have to worry about being healthy, because I know BVMI is watching over me. I know I’ll be here for Mariana because I have so many wonderful people looking out for my health and well-being.”
Mateo, a BVMI patient and recent high school graduate, says “it’s a huge relief coming here. I used to rely on hospitals, but now I can see my own doctor instead of going to the emergency room.”
Mateo’s family moved here from Spain when he was young and he now calls Bergen County home. He lives with his mom and sister and is looking for a job, with the ultimate goal of joining the Air Force and becoming a pilot. “Even though I’m young, it’s important I start taking care of my health now. I’m thankful to be getting off on the right foot.”
